Paintings from my ‘Reflections’ Showing @ Cocktail

This is a piece using the color of the wood as the light and only black paint to make the last place Townsend and I got to fish - which happened to be one of the best fishing spots we've ever come across. When I close my eyes and go there... this is where.

Pieces of the City: Reflections

My first year long series of transforming found pieces into art.

The first event in my year long 'Pieces of the City' found-art series
Painting in Progress – Moonlit Falls
- background glow, shape and flow of the painting
- More thought to where the rocks, the water, and the grass with go
- add the moon, some distant trees, a couple trees in the foreground, and begin adding darker areas of grass
- More green highlights
- More water detail
- Near-Final highlights and shadows… almost done
Painting in Progress – Anglerfish

Early on in the process.... general shape and color

Add some more color, some light, and jankety teeth (yes jankety is now officially a word, at least in my book)

Add gold paint to make him pop off the page more and final details. Isn't he adorable?!

On the Run, the band that played after Band Called Catch had me paint this drum head to hang in their rehearsal space. They are great! Check them out!
Milwaukee St Arts Festival with Band Called Catch

The man in the cowboy hat was a riot to watch. The only way I can think to describe his dance is a seductive hokey-polka-waltz; if you can even imagine. He loves the ladies!

Painting a black base coat on all three pieces.

Deep Blue Night Sky

One of those paintings where you have no idea where its going... you just keep adding color until you say done.

oh so serious... I really need to try to be more conscious of trying not to look so crazy while I paint. But I really just zone everything out. It'll be interesting trying to break that and talk to people while I paint.

Stylized flowers - its much harder for me to let myself go and do stylized or abstract work so this was really a test for myself to see if I could experiment with people watching.

Tropical Moon painting which ended up with one of the guys from On The Run.

Small Silhouette of the Chicago Skyline bought by a lovely woman from Australia who guarded the merchandise table.

Another painting of the St Johns River in Florida

Painting @ LaSalle Power Company with Band Called Catch
Some good friends of mine have an awesome band! Check them out at www.BandCalledCatch.com They asked me to play during their 45 minute set Thursday night, so we could auction the painting off afterward. It was a lot of fun! We’re doing it again tomorrow at the Milwaukee St. Arts Festival from 3-5. I’m either gonna do a really big painting or a few smaller ones. Hope to see you there!

Cabaret Vagabond’s New Leadership Promos
This past weekend Nick and I did a shoot with Cabaret Vagabond. They were looking for some artistic new promo shots of their core members. It was a lot of fun because they are currently in the middle of a two week residency at the University of Chicago, which means that they have access to the creative facilities and staff. So they scoured the props and costumes and we hung and focused lights on each of the sets that were created for each character/member. Keep up with what they’re doing @ http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cabaret-Vagabond/28460247101
Here is what came of the shoot…
Tropical Backdrop for Teatro Luna’s Benefit

So many palm trees!
I painted this drop this past week for The Luna Tropical Benefit TL threw this past weekend. The Center section hung in between the two folding closet-doors that stood on the sides.
